In 1990 Heymans et al. calculated that there would be oil for only 40 years. This was calculated however upon the proven reserves in 1990. The source to do the calculations is Statistical Review of World Energy, which is published every year from the Energy Institute in June. The report gives the consumption and proven reserves of the fossil and other fuels. For 2010 and 2020 we calculated the proven oil reserves again. From now there is over 50 years proven oil reserves.
Although the renewables increase in producing energy, the yearly consumption of oil, gas and coal has increased. The renewables deliver only a small amount of the energy supply. Because the people need fossil fuels, governments should invest in fossil fuels. Humans need fossil fuels for the economy, traffic, warming and cooking.
The impact of nature on the climate is enormous, far more than the impact of humans on nature by using fossil fuels. Consider the impact of the volcano Hunga Tonga from which nature is restoring itself. The CO2 protests and activism are acts against the human civilization, which deliver chaos and decline of civilization.
The coal reserves are available for hundreds of years. Investments should be made to discover new ways of coal energy supply. The uranium reserves are available for thousand of years so nuclear power should be used.
